Welcome to the Computer Lab Page!
The next few weeks, we will be emphasizing keyboarding skills. The students (depending on the grade) will be encouraged through lessons to use correct finger placement and to try to not look at the keys while typing. This is an important skill to learn and improve upon. As our students approach high school and college, good keyboarding skills will make all the difference in being successful and timely with their assignments.
As each class comes in for the week, they are directed to begin keyboarding. We are using a free program called Typing Factory. From now until our break in October, we are concentrating on correct finger placement and keeping both hands on the keyboard on the correct keys. Encouraging this practice will help them as they move along to other finger placements besides the home keys. You are welcome to have them practice at home also (why I chose a free program). Each of our scholars has an IXL account they can use at home. In order to get the whole program they subscribe to at school, please use the following url: http://www.ixl.com/signin/sunvalleycs. If you have trouble signing in or your scholar does not know their individual sign-in info, please contact their teacher or me (extension 115).
COMING IN OCTOBER!! COMPUTER SAFETY LESSONS. LOOK FOR TAKE-HOME LITERATURE FROM YOUR SCHOLAR.
